Wenhan was born at Sichuan University in 1988, where he was growing up for the next twenty-two years. Since his high-school time, he has been fascinated by chemistry and wanted to synthesize new medicines to cure diseases. In 2007, he started his odyssey in organic synthesis from chemistry department of Sichuan University. As an undergraduate research assistant, he joined the group of Prof. Bo Liu in 2009. Wenhan's undergraduate research focused on total synthesis of heliespirones A & C and total synthesis of hirsutellone B. After he obtained B.S. degree in chemistry, he moved to University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas to pursue his Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. Joseph M. Ready, he worked on palladium-catalyzed syntheses of aryl ynol ethers, which were served as key building blocks in total syntheses of dictyodendrins F, H, and I. Also there, Wenhan met his super fluffy cat Palladium, and "palladium" became a miraculous catalyst in his life and career. In 2016, he joined Porco Group as a postdoctoral fellow. Now, he is working on the analog synthesis of rocaglate targeting to the inhibition of HCV entry.
