Thomas (not Tom nor Tommy) is a native of the Lone Star State and grew up in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. He attended Texas Christian University for his undergraduate studies, where he majored in biochemistry (2013) and was first introduced to total synthesis in the lab of Dr. David Minter. After graduation, he spent time in the labs of Jef De Brabander (UTSW Medical Center) and Oliver Seitz (Humboldt University of Berlin), before deciding to brave the cold and venture to Boston for graduate school. His research in the Porco group is focused on the total synthesis of oxaphenalenone natural products. Thomas is a fan of indie music, spicy food, and the Dallas Cowboys.
